FAQ

I know choosing the right tuition for your child is an important decision. Below are some of the questions parents may have about The Learning Pod. If there is anything else you would like to ask, please feel free to get in touch.

Sessions

What age range do you teach?

I offer tuition for children in Years 1 to 6.

What subjects do you cover?

I provide support in Maths and English, helping children to build confidence, strengthen key skills and make progress over time.

What type of tuition do you offer?

The Learning Pod offers small group tuition in a supportive and engaging environment. Sessions are designed to give children focused teaching while still benefiting from learning alongside others.

How long are sessions?

Sessions are one hour long.

What is included in the price?
  • a one-hour small group tuition session
  • a workbook scheme to support learning over time
  • carefully planned activities and teaching
  • a parent progress report every six weeks
What is the workbook scheme?

Each child works through their own workbook alongside the wider session activities. This helps provide structure, supports practice and revision, and allows learning to build steadily over time.

What do the six-weekly parent reports include?
  • what has been covered
  • the progress their child is making
  • the next steps for the following six-week block
What is your teaching approach?

My teaching approach is warm, supportive and structured. I aim to create sessions where children feel comfortable, encouraged and able to make progress at a pace that works for them.

Do you have experience supporting children with additional needs?

Yes. I have SEND training in autism and ADHD and always aim to create an inclusive, supportive learning environment where children feel understood and able to succeed.

Pricing and payment

How much does tuition cost?

Tuition is charged at £35 per child, per hour.

How does payment work?

Payment is required two weeks in advance to secure your child's place.

What happens if my child misses a session?

Missed sessions, cancellations and refunds are covered in the Terms and Conditions.

Grouping and suitability

How are children grouped?

Children are grouped carefully based on factors such as age, year group and learning needs, so that sessions feel supportive, suitable and beneficial for everyone in the group.

Do you offer 1:1 tuition?

At the moment, The Learning Pod focuses on small group tuition. If this changes in the future, details will be shared on the website.

How many children are in each group?

Groups are kept small, with a maximum of 4 children per session. This allows me to give each child focused support while still creating the benefits of small group learning.

Practical details

Where do sessions take place?

Sessions take place in a dedicated home learning space in Ashton-in-Makerfield.

Do parents stay during sessions?

Parents do not stay during sessions. This helps children settle into the group and build independence in their learning. The Learning Pod is based in Ashton-in-Makerfield, where there are a variety of shops and cafes nearby while you wait.

Do you run sessions during school holidays?

School holiday activities and session slots will be released 2 weeks before each holiday. This allows families to see what is available and book any additional sessions or activities if they would like to.
